Senator David Smith Endorses CDPA

As a follow up to the work of the Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology’s review of the 2004 Health Accord, Senator David Smith recently published an article in the Hill Times urging Parliamentarians to consider the needs of people with disabilities when planning for subsequent Health Accords. In this article, Senator Smith’s refers to the submission made by the CDPA to the Committee in November 2011 which urged the Committee to do the same. The brief, based on research about the health needs of people with disabilities and barriers that are commonly experienced in healthcare settings, was a collaboration between Dr Mary Ann McColl, Bill Adair, and Mike Schaub of the CDPA Secretariat and Steven Christianson and Janet Macmaster of March of Dimes Canada.
