In response to recent deliberations by the Senate of Canada on the future of Healthcare, the CDPA produced a brief to ensure that the needs of persons with disabilities are considered when negotiating future Health Accords.

Based largely on the research of Dr Mary Ann McColl and colleagues, the Canadian Disability Policy Alliance offered several recommendations for future health accords, all of which attempt to bring a disability lens on policy development for health care renewal.  The brief focused particularly on the area of primary healthcare, access to physician services, and models of service delivery that are more helpful to people with disabilities who often encounter multiple complex health conditions.

The brief to the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science, and Technology was produced in collaboration with partners at the March of Dimes Canada and Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario.
