Students

One of the core objectives if the CDPA is to train future scholars in disability policy who will carry on the legacy of the CDPA well beyond its funding cycle. This is part of the sustainability mandate of all CURA research projects funded by SSHRC. CDPA intentionally builds the skills of student researchers in a number of different ways:
  1. Students will be hired to help pursue the research mandates of individual teams through annual funding allocations from the central Secretariat. Some of these students will be hired through cost-shared programs with Universities or other non-profit organizations.

  2. Students will be given the opportunity to volunteer their time with the CDPA to gain valuable career or research experience. These students will be asked to design a learning agreement that is mutually beneficial to both the student and the team that they are volunteering with.

  3. Some students at the Masters and PhD level will be selected for scholarships according to the policies of CDPA and be offered associate status in the CURA for as long as they receive a scholarship. Students in this category will agree to participate in one or more policy area teams and share their research with the whole CURA.
