Scholarship Policy
Each year a scholarship competition is held to determine who will be funded by the CDPA as part of its mandate to build into the careers of future researchers in disability policy. This competition is advertized in advance through relevant University departments, community partner agencies, and through the networks of all partners and associates of the CDPA. This strategy has produced applications for CDPA scholarships from around the world.Masters students are eligible for $5000 in funding for one year, and PhD students are eligible for $10,000 in funding for up to two years. The number of Masters and PhD scholarships awarded for each year varies.
Applications are reviewed annually by members of the Secretariat, who make recommendations to the leadership team based on the qualifications of each applicant. These recommendations and the supporting documents for each candidate are forwarded to the leadership team, which makes the final decision on all scholarship awards.
Successful candidates are asked to acknowledge the Canadian Disability Policy Alliance as a source of funding, contribute to Alliance's knowledge translation activities, and abide by the Alliance's guiding principles, and develop a learning agreement with members of the Secretariat that outlines their learning goals for their time with the CDPA.
