We are pleased to announce a new project entitled:  Seeking quality indicators in sport policy in Canada, funded partially by the Work-study program at Queen’s University and the Canadian Disability Participation Project.  We will be working with:

  • Dr. Amy Latimer of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen’s, Canada Research Chair in Disability and Physical Activity
  • Mr. Atul Jaiswal, doctoral student in Rehabilitation Science at Queen’s.
  • Dr. Andrew Hammond, post-doctoral fellow in the School of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia
  • Dr. Caitlin Pentifallo Gadd, Director, Innovation and Impact at viaSport British Columbia
  • Dr. Celina Shirazipour, post-doctoral fellow in the Faculty of Health at Dalhousie University

The project aims to conduct detailed analysis of sport policy at several levels of jurisdiction to ascertain the extent to which provisions are made to ensure “quality participation” in sport for people with disabilities.  The project will apply the Blueprint for Building Quality Participation in Sport for Children, Youth, and Adults with a Disability, to determine if and how quality participation is embedded at present in sporting organizational policy and processes across Canada.
