Job Retention for Disabled Persons

In 2010, Dr. Lyn Jongbloed of the University of British Columbia  conducted an investigation of job retention for people with disabilities.

Job retention means staying with the same employer, with the same or different duties or conditions of employment, and includes return to work after a period of paid or unpaid absence.

This review, Job Retention for People with Disabilities summarizes research related to job retention of people with disabilities with a particular focus on wage subsidies and government policies.  The review finds that many factors affect job retention, both at the level of the individual, at the level of the employer, and at the level of government. Most governments have placed more emphasis on job creation than job retention for this population.
